EUMETSAT is entering an interesting and challenging period as a wide-ranging and transformational program of technology refresh is underway, and multiple satellite launches are planned during the next few years.
Within the energetic international environment, the Ground Segment Systems Upgrade Project Manager, which post is located within the Project, Management Team (PMT), supports the different TSS (Technical and Scientific Support) divisions for managing projects and developing the project management culture and methods in TSS.
These projects within TSS cover all major technical projects for I2D (IT and Data Infrastructures), SGS (Satellite Ground Segment) and DSA (Digital Solutions and SAF) divisions including the upgrade of Ground Segments Systems including Multi-Mission Elements (MME) that are a set of software, facilities, tools, IT infrastructure & IT functions covering Satellite Ground Segment, Data Access and Distribution functions as well as Ground Systems Monitoring. These functions support all current EUMETSAT operational satellite ground systems and are upgraded to support also the new programmes under development.
According to the function, the projects are done under the accountability of the relevant TSS Heads of Division who are responsible of the resources and of the functional areas.

EUMETSAT is an international organisation employing staff from across all 30 member states and this role is being advertised on multiple international job boards, but please note that this role would be based in Darmstadt, Germany and would require international applicants to relocate if successful.
EUMETSAT’s role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.
