Kongsberg NanoAvionics is a leading international New Space Nano and Micro-satellite manufacturer based in Lithuania. Our team at NanoAvionics consists of driven, young, smart, and ambitious employees. We have completed over 70 successful satellite missions and projects, and we’re still counting. We are proud to collaborate with industry leaders like Thales, NASA, ESA, and others, and we are excited to offer you the opportunity to be a part of the global space industry!

Our Systems Engineering team is looking for a Systems Design Engineer to contribute to the development of space missions and the design of various nano and micro-satellite buses.

In this role, you will be part of the core project team, ensuring technical alignment within the multidisciplinary engineering team and with the customer by managing technical requirements and the scope of work. You will also be responsible for performing top-level system design and mission analysis independently.

During satellite development, you will work closely with the System Realization Engineer to ensure the successful development, integration, and testing of a spacecraft that meets the specified requirements and quality standards.

As Systems Design Engineer , you will:

  • Ensure technical alignment between the customer and the multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Ensure that top-level system design is consistent with detailed design throughout the project, and resolve conflicts between top-level and detailed design.
  • Coordinate with the core project team on the schedule for Milestone Reviews and internal/external delivery dates.
  • Ensure that technical documentation delivered by other teams is technically aligned with requirements and top-level design.
  • Lead in-person/online Design Milestone Reviews and moderate technical discussions with stakeholders.
  • Manage satellite project requirements.
  • Perform technical trade-off studies to drive design decisions.
  • Perform mission analysis using simulation tools.
  • Control and estimate technical budgets (Mass, Power, Data, Link, Delta-V, Energy).
  • Coordinate with the launch authority and prepare relevant documentation.

We expect you to have:

  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills – you understand what is required and why behind every requirement.
  • Technical background, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field – a strong foundation enables a quick start.
  • Fundamental understanding of physical principles and their application to real-world problems – because knowledge must be applied to achieve results.
  • Strong sense of ownership – behind every successful space mission is someone who cares deeply.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team – delivering your work is essential, but teamwork is crucial for success.
  • Work experience across multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, RF, and control systems – you will have to tie them all together
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – necessary for the frequent discussions and collaborations involved.
  • Proficiency with STK Pro or equivalent orbital analysis tools – more than a calculator is needed to analyze space missions.
  • Experience with Requirement Management systems is advantageous – managing requirements will be a key part of your role.
  • Knowledge and experience with MBSE would be an advantage – because the next generation of System Engineers will go Model Based
  • Occasional travel may be required to visit us or our customers.

You DO NOT BELIEVE in the FLAT Earth – otherwise it may be difficult to explain the flight dynamics.
