Sidereus Space Dynamics is a European commercial launch vehicle company that is developing a new generation of space vehicles, including EOS, a fully reusable single-stage-to-orbit launch vehicle. We are looking for an Avionics Design Engineer with a strong background in electronics and a focus on embedded software to join our talented team of engineers in an extremely experiment-based research and development environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine dynamic models of aerospace vehicles, focusing on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Design and implement thrust vectoring control systems to optimize vehicle performance.
  • Ensure precise trajectory tracking and control for various mission profiles.
  • Apply advanced control techniques such as Model Predictive Control (MPC), Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), and Kalman Filter (KF) in real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate control systems with vehicle hardware.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of control algorithms on simulators and real hardware.
  • Work on the implementation of control models on FPGA or dedicated hardware platforms, learning and applying new skills as required.
  • Engage in sensor fusion and signal processing to enhance vehicle control and performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundation in aerospace concepts and dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Python and the Anaconda suite for scientific computing.
  • Experience with Simulink and auto-generated code from Simulink for real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with C programming and embedded systems development.
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion, signal processing, and cleaning techniques.

Preferred Skills & Experiences:

  • Proven expertise in using control tools such as MPC, EKF, and KF.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • A passion for the aerospace industry and a continuous drive to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
