The Business & Strategy Analyst will support the Business Analysis Team in developing the business case for Astroscale’s future operations and will collaborate extensively with the engineering, policy and other divisions to develop interdisciplinary consensus for Astroscale's future strategy.

Responsibilities 

  • Design and deliver analysis and recommendations to inform Astroscale UK’s business strategy;
  • Developing novel strategic analysis using information from multiple domains which might include engineering, astrodynamics, statistics, business, economics, and/or public policy;
  • Provide analytical and technical support for ASUK Projects and Programmes, leading market analysis and research;
  • Analysis of potential partners/competitors for future Astroscale missions to support internal strategic decision-making;
  • Detailed analysis of potential customers, including building financial models and cost benefit analyses;
  • Contribute to thought leadership research on the economics of space debris, including socioeconomic impact, financing and insurance mechanism, cost to operators, policy analysis;
  • Develop cost estimates to assess the future pricing of debris-removal services;
  • Develop evidence to support public investment into Astroscale programmes;
  • Develop financial models/analysis to assess production, scale-up, and supply chain trade-offs for ASUK manufacturing;
  • Develop financial models/analysis to quantify engineering trade-offs and their impact on the business case;
  • Investigate how satellite operators evaluate debris removal strategies and quantify the value of Astroscale’s services;
  • Work with the business development and sales teams to support business analysis required for future bids and programmes.

Essential Skills

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, business, management, or a STEM field;
  • 2+ years’ experience in management consulting, financial analysis, market analysis, space industry, space policy, or economic research;
  • Passionate about space with knowledge of the space environment and space debris;
  • Creative problem solver who can leverage information from multiple domains which might include engineering, astrodynamics, statistics, business, and/or economics;
  • Analytical mindset and strong quantitative skills – ability to think critically and creatively;
  • Demonstrated ability to use logic to collect, evaluate and synthesize multiple sources of information, e.g. articles and research papers;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and written/verbal communication skills including to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Ability to project manage;
  • Ability to design, develop, recommend, and execute a business strategy;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team;
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to take initiative;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Experience managing and curating data sets.

Desirable skills

  • Experience as a professional analyst in the space industry;
  • Experience conducting economic research, financial modelling/analysis;
  • Experience conducting business impact analysis on engineering or production decisions;
  • Experience or knowledge in the following areas: debris removal, in-orbit maintenance or servicing, space situational awareness (SSA);
  • Experience working in policy and/or regulation (international or national);
  • Open-source intelligence gathering (OSINT) experience;
  • Knowledge of Python or PowerBI;
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
