Job Description
Exotrail is looking for a Ground segment architect for its space vehicle dedicated to in-orbit rendez-vous. The main role of this person will be to define and oversee the development of the ground segment associated with rendez-vous mission.
The current team is composed of several engineers working on different missions of the spacedrop™: LEO, GEO and rendez-vous. Your role will be to lead the ground segment definition and development with a focus on our rendez-vous mission:
- Help in defining the concept of operations of the in orbit rendez-vous complete system;
- Define all needs at ground system level to enable the execution of the concept of operations, and with all stakeholders (operations, system, IVV (Integration, Verification, Validation));
- Define the ground segment architecture needed for in orbit rendez-vous (Flight dynamics system needs, operations, etc ..);
- Drive the trade-offs on the software solutions;
- Lead the qualification of the ground segment.
It requires a high-level knowledge of the architecture of a ground segment, a true spirit of innovation and good skills for teamwork.
Your main tasks will be:
- Participate in the design of the ground segment, and needed evolutions for a rendez-vous mission;
- Specify and follow the requirement associated with the ground segment;
- Specify and follow the integration, verification and validation associated with the ground segment, and end to end test including the satellite;
- Follow the development of the mission from inception to the end-of-life.
You will work directly with the system team manager, the operations team and the project manager of the rendez-vous mission.
Preferred Experience
Exotrail is looking for a satellite architect with hands-on experience on all the phases of a space project. Typically, the candidate:
- Must have already worked on ground segment definition and design for satellites projects;
- Must have experience in project management related to ground segment development;
- Must have worked on software projects related to ground segment;
- Shall have already worked on LEO satellites performing proximity operations in space;
- Shall have seen several phases of the project (design, assembly, test, operations);
- Shall have an experience as a systems engineer in:
- managing technical requirements;
- spacecraft operations in LEO orbit and proximity operations;
- writing technical documentation;
- writing IVV plans and test needs;
- being at the interface between the technical expert teams.
A minimum experience of 4 years in a relevant position is required for this position. Ideally, the candidate has 8 years or more of experience, has the capability to be the technical referee on his subject and start from a blank page, define the development plan in autonomy.
In addition, and as importantly, the candidate must have the following mindset:
- Interest in highly technical work, as well as good project management skills;
- Pragmatism, risk-taking and accountable;
- Good communication skills with fluent English;
