The Role
As a key member of our Avionics Team, you'll play a vital role in designing, procuring, and integrating power subsystems for our current spacecraft projects. You will also have the opportunity to lead the development of next-generation power solutions, ensuring the success of future missions. Join us in creating the technologies that will power the future of space.
Responsibilities
- Provide power subsystem engineering, both high level architecture and detailed electronics design, from specification to integration
- Contribute to detailed power electronics design for in-house developments
- Perform requirements engineering (analysis, flow-up and down) related to spacecraft power systems, and the power interfaces of other on-board hardware
- Maintain spacecraft power budgets and parametric models for the power subsystem
- Analyse EMC constraints for power subsystem and identifying mitigation measures
- Support the definition of power related test equipment
- Write and support Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to external companies, reviewing responses and supporting-down selections
- Subcontractor management for key hardware deliverables
- Review and assess power electronics for all spacecraft equipment
- Define validation, verification and test plans
- Support integration and test of power subsystem, including generation of reports
- Support to flight operations
- Generate documentation for the full project lifetime (e.g. Design, Development and Verification Plan; FMEA; design review documentation; in-orbit subsystem operational procedures)
- Support to customer and project reviews
- Support architecture and product development for future spacecraft power systems
Must Have
- (BSc/MSc) Degree in Power management, Electronics, Aerospace, Physics or similar
- 5+ years Power System and Electrical Engineering experience in a systems or power electronics role
- Experience of power electronics/subsystems in the space industry, including power conditioning and distribution, DC/DC converters, solar arrays, solar array regulation and drive mechanisms, battery management (battery charge/discharge regulators)
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to collaborate outside your immediate expertise
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge of typical program lifecycles, with previous experience as an active contributor to key formal reviews (MDR, PDR, CDR, etc) and
- Experience with spacecraft implementation phases to launch
Nice to Have
- Detailed understanding of power electronics analysis, design, build, and test
- Understanding of actuator and motor drive electronics
- Hands-on electronics design and test experience, including fault diagnosis
- Experience with common space standards (ECSS, MIL, etc), and associated tailoring
