The engineer will also lead the evaluation of payload performance during ground testing and be involved in the critical phase of in-orbit testing to ensure the payload meets all mission objectives. Close collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams will be essential throughout the project lifecycle.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of payload systems, from specification development through design, assembly, integration, and testing, ensuring alignment with project and mission objectives;
- Assist in the technical evaluation of proposals from satellite manufacturers, focusing on payload systems and performance;
- Perform detailed assessments to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of payload technologies in meeting technical and operational requirements;
- Represent the organization in technical meetings and reviews to ensure compliance with design, analysis, and testing standards, and guarantee payload performance meets communication objectives;
- Conduct on-site reviews of payload test results to enable timely decisions on test result acceptability;
- Prepare detailed reports documenting payload test results and in-orbit testing to confirm payload acceptance and operational readiness;
- Stay up-to-date on advances in payload design, simulation tools, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and improve satellite communication capabilities;
- Identify key areas that require attention and provide regular updates to management.
What it Takes:
- University honors degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related field), with a Master’s or PhD in a relevant specialization preferred;
- At least 10 years of experience in satellite telecommunications payload engineering, or equivalent qualifications through advanced degrees;
- Proven experience in the procurement and management of satellite payloads, covering specification, design, development, testing, and integration;
- Hands-on experience with GEO/LEO satellite payload design is a strong advantage;
- Expertise in RF and microwave engineering, including analog signal chain design, high-power amplification, frequency conversion, filtering, and RF chain technologies;
- Strong experience with on-board digital processors, software-defined radio (SDR), and active antennas;
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for simulation and analysis is a plus;
- Familiarity with Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C) systems and satellite operations;
