We are seeking a talented and motivated Electronics Engineer to join our world-class engineering team. As part of our mission to build the world's best satellites by leveraging microchip design, you will play a crucial role in designing the next generation of space systems, with ownership of the design, verification, and test of the space hardware you develop.

SPHERICAL is transforming semiconductor chip design using agile techniques and model-based engineering approaches. We leverage advancements in software to empower engineers while significantly increasing productivity by 10x. Our mission is to create high-quality electronics tailored for the space industry, including power products, with plans to expand into RF/communications and computation in the future.

About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electronics Engineer to join our world-class engineering team. You will play a crucial role in designing electronics for our market leading power and control systems. If you are looking for a challenge with ownership and the ability to make an impact on engineering projects while working with leading space companies then this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design complex electronic systems:
    • Analyse requirements, derive internal requirements, and architect systems to fulfill them;
    • Collaboratively define microchip specifications and interfaces;
    • Design PCB assemblies of the system;
    • Lead the test and qualification of systems for high-reliability use in a space environment.
  • Be the main point of contact for technical matters with the external PCBA assembly supply chain;
  • Set an example of high-quality and principled design within SPHERICAL;
  • Support and inspire junior engineers.

Possible but not required:

  • Grow into an engineering leadership role;
  • Represent SPHERICAL to customers and wider technical community;
  • Assist in microchip architecting, design, and testing.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong PCB design and layout skills;
  • Good understanding of power electronics;
  • Familiarity with requirements management;
  • Understanding of full electronics life-cycle (design, manufacture, test, qualification);
  • Desire to thrive in fast and dynamic development environments.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with space and PA/QA standards such as ECSS;
  • Experience with FPGAs;
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical modelling + thermal design;
  • Project management skills.

Practicalities

  • Full time;
  • Based in the Randstad area, Netherlands;
  • Hybrid working environment, min. 1 day/week onsite to build strong team dynamic, focused work from home possible other days;
  • Reporting to Thomas Parry, CEO.
