Position

The Mission Operations Manager is a new figure that will be part of AVIO Operations (Integration) and is responsible of the area dedicated to the satellite operations and combined operations between the satellite and the launcher.

The Mission Operations Manager will functionally coordinate a team of 8-10 professionals involved in various integration and test operations on a regular basis. The Operation manager will be also working very tight with the Commercial Director of and will have access to the Customer

The Mission Operations Manager follows the customers from the contract signature to the spacecraft separation and preliminary switch-on. Starting from the customer’s needs, she/he manages the operations for the fit-checks with the launcher elements in Europe, the preparation of the spacecraft in French Guyane and the combined operations with the launcher until the flight.

The Mission Operations Manager will act in strict cooperation with the program management, assisting the customers by organising the visits to the launch site, taking care of the customer's needs in terms of organisation (offices, internet, meeting rooms, ...), logistics (satellite and equipment), security of surveillance and communication systems, as well as the technical needs of satellite preparation and testing in the fit check and launch campaign phases.

In a second phase, she/he is also responsible for organising the fit-check tests and carrying the activities in the facilities in Europe chosen by the customer.

Finally, once the launch campaign starts, she/he is responsible for supporting the organisation of the customer's campaign at the launch site by creating and defining the interfaces with CNES facility, where the preparation activities in the clean rooms are carried out. During the launch campaign, she/he is responsible for the satellite integration operations of the launcher. The mission is completed with the acquisition of the satellite's data as soon as it is operational after being released into orbit.

During all the phases she/he stays in close contact with the customer, defining together the needs and conveying them to the CNES and AVIO GUYANE, operational establishments inside the Guyane Space Center.

In addition to the cooperation with the Program Management, she/he will coordinate all the other business functions for logistics and transportation, for the definition of technological processes, and for the execution of integration activities.

The position is based in Paris or Colleferro and it will require availability to frequently travel between the above sites and Kourou, also for mid/long periods to manage contacts with various clients, follow fit-checks and also launch campaigns in French Guiana.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical-aerospace-electronic
  • More than 10 years of experience in operations management, ideally in aerospace
  • Knowledge of SEVESO and pyrotechnic regulation
  • very good English and French mandatory, Italian nice to have

  • Management of cross-functional teams
  • Problem solving for immediate interpretation and resolution of interface anomaly between spacecraft and launcher
  • Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural, multilingual and international environment
