ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a (Senior) Engineer, Ground Systems to join the Ground Systems Engineering team in our Luxembourg HQ!
In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of ground systems and TT&C infrastructure for our GEO/MEO fleet, working with cross-departmental teams to support Next-Gen satellite networks. The role requires you to have a strong expertise in RF and satellite communications, including hands-on experience in TT&C infrastructure and project management.
All applicants must be native to a EU member state, and willing to undergo a EU secret clearance process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsiblities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design, analysis, and specification of SES's Next-Gen Teleport Communications and Ground Monitoring & Control Systems globally;
- Manage all project phases, including requirements definition, budgeting, and resource coordination;
- Design and specify earth station and teleport/gateway solutions for video/data transmissions, spectrum monitoring, and related infrastructure;
- Design fixed and mobile earth station and teleport/gateway solutions for video/data transmissions (includes: antenna, HPA, waveguide, switch matrix, converters, modulators, electrical & optical inter-facility links);
- Content/data/IF/RF spectrum measurement and monitoring and control systems;
- Plan site facility infrastructure, including IT infrastructure, as required;
- Perform transmission analysis, design drawing, and other detailed/complex studies;
- Generate RFP documents;
- Perform transmission analysis, link budget calculations, and detailed studies to support business and customer needs;
- Participate in ground system integration, testing, and operational validation, including factory and site acceptance teests;
- Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders, and lead technical teams on project-specific objectives.
YOUR PROFILE
- A recognized Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering degree with a strong foundation in RF and telecom theory;
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in satellite ground systems development, including project management;
- Expertise in RF measurement techniques, ground station testing, and auxiliary systems like IP networks, power and HVAC;
- Proven experience with tools like Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Windows and Linux;
- Familiarity with GEO/MEO/LEO satellite ground stations;
- Ability to travel up to 20%;
- Nationality of an EU member state, and willingness to undergo a EU secret clearance process.
