As a talented Thruster Development Engineer, you will be supporting the design, development, and testing of a chemical thruster.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks:

In your capacity as a Thruster Development Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • Assisting in the end-to-end design and development of a chemical thruster, including detailed design and manufacturing;
  • Performing engineering calculations, simulations, and trade studies to evaluate performance metrics such as thrust, specific impulse, and efficiency;
  • Producing CAD designs and detailed drawings for manufacturing of different thruster components;
  • Planning and operating hydraulic characterization tests for thruster component acceptance testing;
  • Assisting in the assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of thruster prototypes and test setups;
  • Working closely with other thruster development engineers to develop and execute hotfire tests;
  • Analyzing test data to ensure systems meet or exceed performance and using the acquired knowledge to improve subsequent designs;
  • Preparing detailed technical documentation, including test reports, design reviews, and performance analyses;
  • Presenting findings to team members and participating in design reviews and project discussions.

What we would love to see from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred);
  • 2–5 years of experience in propulsion or related fields (entry-level candidates with relevant internships or project experience will be considered);
  • Exposure to thruster design, propulsion system analysis, and hotfire testing;
  • Proficiency in propulsion chemistry, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics;
  • Experience within simulation tools (e.g., CEA, MATLAB, ANSYS, or similar);
  • Proficiency in python programming language;
  • Proficiency in CAD Software (Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
