What will you do in this role?

In this role, you will support the company's growth as we continue to scale our Engineering Test Team. We are looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join us in our Espoo office. The Engineering Test Team is responsible to qualify the new technologies before introducing them in the production line, as well as the necessary test equipment. The team also supports the AIT activities of the new satellite generations.

You will work closely with engineers from other domains to ensure continuous improvements of our test equipment. Your responsibilities will include the design of mechanical components for test equipment, support the qualification of new technologies and assembling of the satellite qualification models as well the flight models.

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Plan and Coordinate mechanical tests on our new generation satellites.
  • Plan and Coordinate the vibration tests of our production line and R&D satellites.
  • Plan and Coordinate custom mechanical testing.
  • Design mechanical structures for testing jigs.
  • Design mechanical interfaces for mechanical tests (vibration, shock, etc).
  • Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) design and assembling.
  • Support test jig development.
  • Support the assembly of our new generation satellites (flight models and qualification models).
  • Write technical documentation.
  • Assist and mentor junior engineers to help them advance in their technical career.

Requirements

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • MSc degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years Experience with mechanical vibration tests.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in leading R&D projects.
  • Prior experience in Autodesk Inventor/Vault (or ability to switch from a similar design/PDM software).
  • Prior experience with FE (Finite Element) analysis tools (Hypermesh, ANSYS, Nastran, etc.), including statics, modal and dynamics.
  • Prior experience in developing clean sheet designs and developing them to a conceptual working prototype.
  • Creation and interpretation of manufacturing drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative and communicate effectively.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn new things.
  • Willingness to travel to testing facilities (~7 times per year).
  • Hands-on approach: be prepared to use a screwdriver!
