Job Profile:
Being part of our multinational team of highly skilled professionals, the Engineer willl be in charge to ensure that product assurance is consistently provided across the LuxSpace organization and to ensure that OHB LuxSpace’s processes, operations, policies and practices in the overall business and operations project cycle comply with the applicable internal and external product assurance regulations and standards. The position closely interfaces with cross-departmental stakeholders, with the OHB Group quality and product assurance department, and with external interfaces such as auditors. The position requires continuously flawless close collaboration with the company’s project operations team as internal customers.
The Product Assurance Engineer will act as the focal point of contact for project and product related Product Assurance aspects.
The ideal candidate will be professional, highly analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. To prosper in this role, you should be fluent in risk management and our industry’s principles.
Typical Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Continuously manage and improve product assurance in accordance with the specific project/product assurance requirements;
- Hands-on execute and interface with project managers to ensure that contractual provisions and schedule planning for the definition and phasing of Product Assurance (PA) activities are met;
- Responsible for the interfaces to risk management, engineering, procurement and AIV functions for the definition and execution of tasks in which PA activities are involved;
- Act as the focal point of contact within a project for PA matters;
- Responsible for the interfaces to risk management, engineering, procurement and AIV functions for the definition and execution of tasks in which PA activities are involved as well as the project customer and lower tier suppliers regarding all PA matters;
- Responsible for failure-proofing missions by ensuring that materials, mechanical parts, processes and electrical components used to assemble a spacecraft or launcher shall be fit for purpose over the entire life of a mission;
- Chair project related reviews towards lower tier suppliers using applicable tools and participate in customer reviews as either board member, contributor, or observer;
- Settlement of disagreements and conflicts of interest;
- Non-Conformance Report (NCR), Request for Deviation (RFD), Request for Waiver (RFW) and Request for Approval (RFA) management, using applicable NCTS tool. Chair all related Non Conformance Review Boards (NRB) and Change Control Board (CCB) meetings towards lower tier supplier and participate in customer NRBs and CCBs as a board member;
- Take appropriate and efficient measures to minimize the consequences of non-compliance by LuxSpace;
- Provide support and guidance to the management and departments in a proactive manner;
- Regularly report on status and progress of project assurance deployment;
- Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s);
- Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) or equivalent;
- Demonstrated background qualification in Product Assurance, via workshops and relevant certification;
- 3+ Years of work experience in a role of product assurance engineer, gained in a professional position in the space industry, focus on micro satellites being considered an asset;
- Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
- Experience in various areas of engineering;
- Experience in a product assurance role;
- Excellent ability to strike an optimal balance between product assurance compliance requirements and efficient project execution;
- Experience in executing and being subject to audits;
- Experience and working knowledge in PA standards applicable to space industry, such as ECSS;
- Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers;
- Good communication capabilities, analytical sense, priority setting;
- Methodical work-approach, results-oriented;
- Self-motivated; taking responsibility and being proactive;
- Hands-on mentality and experience;
- Positive spirit to work and interface with a multinational team;
- Readiness to work flexible in line with project needs and schedules;
- Readiness to travel for business when necessary;
- Languages: Excellent English language skills (spoken and written), German and/or French knowledge is considered as an asset;
- In line with applicable (immigration) legislation, candidates must have an EU / NATO membership country citizenship and possess all applicable work and residence; permissions for Luxembourg.
