Job Description
As a systems engineer working on a high-thrust rocket engine, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of the engine's subsystems, ensuring they operate harmoniously to meet overall performance, reliability, and safety requirements. You will play a key role throughout the complete development cycle of the engine, from defining requirements to final validation through testing and flight.
Responsibilities
Tasks and missions:
- Requirements analysis and management: collect, analyze, and specify system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders. Ensure the traceability of technical and regulatory requirements throughout the project;
- System architecture: develop and maintain the engine architecture, defining interfaces between subsystems (combustion chamber, injection system, turbopumps, etc.);
- Interface management: ensure consistency between different subsystems by defining and validating mechanical, fluid, electrical, and control interfaces;
- Functional analysis: perform functional and dysfunctional analyses, identify failure modes, and participate in the implementation of corrective solutions;
- Testing and validation: collaborate on test definition, analyze results to validate engine behavior, and propose improvements if necessary;
- Technical documentation: draft technical documentation, including design, test, and validation reports. Ensure the requirements management databases are up-to-date.
Preferred experience and skills
Education:
- engineering degree or master’s degree specializing in aerospace, mechanical engineering, energy, or a related field.
Technical skills:
- strong experience in systems engineering, preferably applied to rocket engines or space propulsion systems;
- proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., TEAMCENTER, DOORS);
- deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, high-temperature materials, and structural dynamics;
- experience in numerical modeling (CFD, mechanical strength calculations) and data analysis from engine tests;
- familiarity with safety and reliability standards in the aerospace industry.
Behavioral skills:
- ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, strong communication skills, and aptitude for coordinating complex activities;
- rigor, analytical and synthesis skills, and the ability to make technical decisions under pressure;
- technical curiosity and a passion for innovation.
