(Senior) RF Telecommunication Engineer - Space Industry

Job Profile:
In the course of enforcing and expanding its satellite subsystem and system competence, LuxSpace is recruiting an experienced Telecommunication Systems Engineer (7y+) for immediate employment. An experienced (7y+) Telecommunication Systems Engineer with a profound understanding of the end-to-end digital radio telecommunication chain, is required to participate in the design/development of RF telecommunication systems for satellites.
The actual engineering tasks are in the TT&C subsystem and mission data downlink – with an extension to digital radio communication payload development. Activities comprise requirements and architectural engineering of communication subsystems as well as hands-on laboratory work on telecommunication chains.
A good knowledge of space RF electronics is considered a plus.
Several years of experience is a must.
Typical Responsibilities include:
- Fundamental parameters of antennas;
- RF system analysis and design;
- RF circuit analysis, design, and development;
- Digital and analog circuit design skills is considered a plus;
- Digital modulations schemes and signal processing;
- Working knowledge of channel coding;
- Telecommunication system end-to-end performance analysis and trade-off studies including link budgets;
- Worst Case - FMECA analysis;
- Elaboration of requirement specification. Flow down from System - to equipment - requirements and their justification;
- Simulation on system level;
- Testing of telecommunication systems;
- Provision of design documentation like: Technical notes, design description, worst case analysis etc.;
- Review of design documentation from external suppliers and participation in review meetings;
- Supervising suppliers;
- Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s);
- Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong background in satellite Digital Radio telecommunication systems (preferable for small/micro satellites);
- In depth knowledge of RF electronic circuits and the application of respective simulation tools for design and analysis;
- Knowledge of digital and analog circuitry;
- Work experience in the space industry is desirable;
- Ability to work in a multinational project team;
- Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
- Structured hands-on work-approach;
- Excellent problem-solving skills;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Positive spirit to work and interface with a multinational team;
- Willingness and availability to work flexibly in line with project needs and schedules;
- Willingness and availability to occasionally travel for business if needed;
- Languages: Very good English language skills (spoken and written), German and/or French knowledge is considered as an asset;
- EU citizen or LU work permit mandatory;
- In line with applicable (immigration) legislation, all candidates must be eligible to work in Luxembourg/be an EU/EEA citizen and possess all applicable work permissions for Luxembourg;
- In view of the nature of the work and job profile, candidates may undergo stringent reference and identity checks;
