Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to support our TSE (Test Systems Engineering) team in the Czech Republic. The role involves designing hardware for our engine test facilities. The designer will also work independently and advise external design companies on GE Aerospace specifications. Responsibilities include project management, design changes, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in 3D modelling, and mechanical design assessments is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the TSE Team in the design of hardware required for engine testing, ranging from simple components to entire new test support systems;
  • Create designs supporting our customer requirements or act as an advisor to external design companies, guiding them on GE Aerospace specifications and best practices. Oversee and guide the manufacturing of designed components to ensure they meet requirements;
  • Assist the TSE team in design tasks, ensuring that all projects comply with GE Aerospace Design Practices to drive and improve quality and safety;
  • Engage in communication with internal stakeholders including our colleagues from Italy, Germany and US;
  • Coordinate and oversee current project schedules, improve and update project tracking visual management, and perform project management tasks, covering the entire process of design change approvals;
  • Present accurate project deliverables to stakeholders, escalating issues and proposing solutions to meet customer requirements;
  • Analyze and interpret design data and effectively communicate and explain the findings;
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced experience in mechanical design with proficiency in 3D modelling (we are using Siemens NX and ANSYS);
  • Ability to conduct analysis, including analytical bolt assessments, hand calculations, stack-ups, welded joints and consideration of tolerances within the design;
  • Project management skills, including coordination with stakeholders and suppliers;
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Czech is advantageous but not required;
  • Ability to work independently and seek advice when needed;
  • EU Work/Stay Permit.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with structural mechanics and free body diagrams;
  • Proficiency in stress analysis (Finite Element Modelling) using ANSYS, including LCF (Low Cycle Fatigue) and HCF (High Cycle Fatigue);
  • Experience in dynamic assessments, including rotor dynamics and Campbell diagrams.
