What is the role?

In this position you will report into the Head of Product for ICEYE’s Data Line of Business (LOB). The Data Product organization is responsible for designing, building, and delivering products that enable customer access to ICEYE data services. For ICEYE to be successful these products must deliver an outstanding customer experience. The role of Director of Program Delivery focuses on delivery of ground segment infrastructure, including antenna and image processing systems, that allow customers to directly access the ICEYE constellation imaging capabilities. The Director of Program Delivery will be accountable for end-to-end activities required for a successful delivery of customer infrastructure.

In this role you will be responsible for leading the delivery of customer ground infrastructure. Your accountabilities will include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Inform and influence program capture throughout the full sales cycle, from early business development efforts through contract drafting and negotiations
  • Create delivery plans in coordination with the customer and ICEYE engineering staff
  • Lead delivery activities with ICEYE staff and 3rd-party providers
  • Coordinate with customer technical staff on requirements for IT security, systems interfaces, and physical site integration
  • Qualify 3rd-party providers necessary for customer infrastructure delivery, particularly for antennas and related systems. Manage these vendor relationships. Coordinate flowdown between ICEYE customer contracts and ICEYE’s contracts with its vendors
  • Create program metrics and KPIs. Facilitate reporting of these metrics and KPIs
  • Coordinate and creation of all relevant customer and internal documentation; ensuring quality of all documentation
  • Lead internal and customer-facing test and acceptance activities
  • Create operations and maintenance (O&M) plans to sustain customer infrastructure after delivery
  • Report to senior customer stakeholders on program status
  • Report to ICEYE executive staff on program status, financial performance, delivery risks and mitigations
  • Create, operationalize, and a plan for continuous improvement in program delivery
  • Although the position does not currently have direct reports, ICEYE envisions the scope expanding over time to include direct reports. As this happens, you will be responsible for full lifecycle management of these staff, including recruiting, developing, and mentoring program delivery subordinates.
  • Your success in this role will be evaluated based on successful program delivery. This specifically includes adherence to milestones and budget within an agreed-to scope; customer satisfaction with the program delivery; and quality of collaboration with external and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in project or program management, with a proven track record of successful delivery of large programs involving complex systems and technology. For example: space, telecom, IT, defence, aerospace, automotive, automation
  • Strong leadership as demonstrated by ability to define attainable plans and rally internal and customer staff to execute those plans; also, to make effective on-the-fly adjustments to those plans as program assumptions evolve
  • Excellent customer communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with stakeholders at all levels of a customer organization. Particular focus on ability to effectively represent ICEYE in senior customer engagements
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify and mitigate program risks and issues
  • Knowledge of program management processes, tools and techniques, as demonstrated by program delivery and/or certification
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations constructively, positively, and successfully
  • Tolerance for ambiguity. Ability to respond constructively to fluid, fast-moving business contexts and objectives
  • Experience leading a program delivery team
  • Ability to travel internationally up to ~25% of time

In addition to the above, it would be beneficial if you had the below attributes and skills:

  • Space segment/ground segment program management experience, as demonstrated by the successful delivery of space or ground segment programs
  • Experience delivering and supporting firewalled customer infrastructure and/or infrastructure with limited open internet access
  • Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or operations
  • Formal program management certification, such as PMP
