Mechanical Design Engineer - Propulsion Vectoring System

Your role and your team:

You will report directly to the Propulsion Vectoring System Lead. The Propulsion Vectoring System Team is responsible for the design and development of the propulsion unit actuation system across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Propulsion System, you will be part of an interdisciplinary IPT (Integrated Project Team) responsible for the development and integration of propulsion actuation system which includes liaising with key suppliers.

From mechanical parts or electrical integration design to mechanical systems development you will play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.

Your Day to Day:

Develop and design aerospace propulsion parts and assemblies throughout their lifecycle
Create complex 3D parts and assemblies in CAD (Siemens NX)
Design approval of 2D technical drawings appropriate for production and certification
Good working knowledge of GD&T
Consult with engineers of other disciplines, for example Manufacturing, Procurement, etc.
Consult with Suppliers and support DfM sessions
Create supporting documentation for certification
Prepare and present material in design reviews
Learn new things – and share them with your team members
Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks

Your Profile:

University degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/M. Eng preferred)
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is required
Proven record of successfully progressing designs through a gated process
Experience in managing and agreeing interfaces
Experience in the validation and verification of designs is beneficial
Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems is required
Experience in Teamcenter and NX is beneficial
Experience in working with actuation systems is beneficial
Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required
Strong motivation to help build structures and processes is required
High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required
Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required
Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required
Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
