The main purpose of the role would be to help the control systems team to plan, program, and commission new ground equipment PLC systems especially on the software (Beckhoff TwinCAT 3), but also on the hardware side. However, the projects usually don’t stop after the commissioning - maintenance and upgrading existent systems play a big role in the daily work, too.

Your Role in Our Space Mission

  • Develop PLC software for new ground equipment, especially test rigs
  • Design PLC hardware setups and PLC-related networks
  • Perform risk analyses and design safety-critical electrical systems
  • Commission control systems and maintain/upgrade them

Qualification Checklist

  • A degree in electrical engineering, automation technology, or the like/ A certified engineer (german: ‘staatlich geprüfter Techniker’) in automation technology
  • 2+ years of experience in automation and PLC technology, ideally using Beckhoff PLCs
  • Experience in the field of PLC programming (soft-PLC) and ideally also commissioning, ideally using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or CODESYS based systems
  • Experience in giving technical support and troubleshooting in the field or remotely
  • Experience designing and building PLC systems to EU and international standards
  • Experience with functional safety system design and implementation
  • Knowledge about fieldbus systems
  • Knowledge of sensors/sensor signals and test equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics
  • Fluent in English
