In the frame of Thales Alenia Space Rome AIT Center is looking for an Engineer to take a role in designing and verifying Space Systems Tests and Platform Test Engineer. Requested profile is for engineers in Electronic, Telecommunication or equivalent.

Key duties:

Candidate shall assume an active function on developing and performing tests and designing and procuring test benches. Her/His duties will include:

  • Execution of tests on RF and Microwaves subsystems and systems;
  • Analysis, modeling and simulation of Payload test benches functions and performances;
  • Definition of validation, methods and accuracy of tests;
  • Development of AIT Test Software and Procedures;
  • Use the function and operations of all the systems composing the Anechoic Chamber;
  • Reading technical drawings and schemes;
  • Safety concepts and procedure;
  • Supervision of test campaigns and analysis of results;
  • Test report and trend analysis;
  • Availability to work in double or triple shifts;
  • Availability to work during bank holidays seasons;
  • Availability to work on weekends;
  • Availability to work abroad for long periods.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Master degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineer or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of Anechoic Chamber System use and scope;
  • Understanding the function and operations of all the systems composing the Anechoic Chamber;
  • Knowledge/Experience on main protocol/standards as CCSDS, ITU, ECSS, PUS and so on;
  • Knowledge of ESA technical standard (at least of the following list):
    • ECSS-E-ST-20-07C Rev.2(3January2022) (EMC);
    • ECSS-E-ST-50-05C(RF and modulation);
    • ECSS-E-ST-50-02C (Ranging and Doppler).
  • Technical experience about write/understanding of the Payload Test Requirements of a Satellite;
  • Technical experience about technical procurement on Payload units;
  • Technical experiences about test execution at Payload level or alternatively on Spacecraft level;
  • Reading technical drawings and schemes;
  • Familiar Safety concepts and procedure;
  • Familiar with both RF instrumentation and RF measurements;
  • Knowledge of Antennas Theory (basic, at least) and related Antenna RF measurements;
  • Knowledge of Far-Field and Near Field terminologies and measurement techniques;
  • Technical experience on Payload EGSE elements and development on Payload simulator;
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, C++, Python, Java, Linux is a plus;
  • Knowledge of the operating principles on Telecommunication Sub-systems;
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of measurement instrumentations (Oscilloscope, Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer…..);
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and to work autonomously;
  • Team Working attitude;
  • Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking.
