Who are you?
- As an experienced Electronics Engineer, you will have knowledge and experience of designing, developing, building, documenting and testing electronic systems together with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues;
- You will be accustomed to taking the lead in devising methodical approaches to solving problems and providing guidance to more junior engineers to do the same;
- You will be comfortable producing concise and consistent documentation in accordance with company processes and may be required to assist the Electronics and RF Team Lead in ensuring consistency across the team;
- You will be comfortable working as part of a team and will have the communication skills required to assist the Electronics and RF Team Lead in maintaining information flow throughout the team;
- You support others in identifying problems and carefully think through and test possible solutions. You are able to evaluate the pros, cons and consequences of various decision options, creating a range of solutions;
- You will be proactive in seeking out information and will be willing to flex your priorities to support others where necessary and be comfortable with a fast-paced environment;
- The role will require someone who takes pride in their work, and can present a professional face to clients, suppliers, and partners.
We are looking for the following skills:
- Educated to at least degree - level or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline;
- Minimum 5 years industry experience;
- Technical delivery of complex electrical/electronic systems in a relevant industry sector;
- Programming experience e.g. Python, Java, C/C++ (desirable);
- Proficient in use of appropriate technical tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, PSpice);
- Experience in documentation for space/aerospace projects (desirable);
- Experience in testing and test automation;
- Experience in firmware development and FPGA/ VHDL (desirable);
- Knowledge of EEE component selection best practice when designing for space programmes (desirable); Knowledge of Space Standards e.g. ECSS (desirable);
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers (desirable).
What will you be doing here?
Reporting to the Electronics and RF Team Lead, your role will include working on a range of activities from detailed design, development, documentation and test through to wider spacecraft support.
You will work closely with our engineers and support activities in the following areas:
- Design, development, prototyping, build and test of electronic circuits and systems from initial requirements through to launch and in-orbit operations;
- Detailed design activities including Schematic production; Selection and procurement of relevant components and assemblies to support design and development activities; ECAD design either directly or managing a specialist (depending on complexity);
- Produce electronics documentation, e.g. SoW, Design Document, Interface Control Document, Test Plans;
- Derivation and management of technical requirements from Mission and System Level to subsystem and equipment level (with support from others where necessary);
- Definition and management of subsystem/unit interfaces;
- Provision of technical inputs into definition of spacecraft test and flight harnesses and required test support equipment;
- Provision of relevant inputs to system level budgets and designs;
- Derivation, management and execution of Validation and Verification activities at a subsystem level and provision of inputs to these at a system level;
- Working with third party suppliers to identify requirements for design, manufacture, documentation and testing of electronic sub-assemblies.
