Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Propulsion R&D Engineer [F/M] at our Massy site specializing in propulsion technologies to join our team. This role involves conducting advanced research, developing cutting-edge propulsion technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions to the market.

Attached to the Technology Team, your responsibilities will be:

Design, analyse and develop advanced propulsion technologies.
Plan and conduct laboratory tests to validate propulsion system performance under various conditions.
Analyse test data, identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures to optimize system performance.
Explore new materials, manufacturing techniques and technologies.
Write technical reports, research papers and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all research activities, experiments and project progress.
Design and oversee the construction of prototypes, ensuring they meet technical specifications and safety standards.
Identify opportunities for innovation within the propulsion domain and propose new research initiatives.
Contribute to patent applications and intellectual property strategies related to propulsion technologies.

Preferred Experience

You hold a PhD in electric or chemical propulsion or plasma physics.
Previous hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.
You are familiar with electric propulsion and have hands-on experience in this field.
You have experience with software for test applications and data processing, such as LabView, MATLAB or Python.

Preferred skills

You have a critical and constructive mindset and want to understand the behaviour of your experiments.
You are willing to propose measured risks.
You have a high degree of autonomy.
You have great communication skills, both writing- and speaking-wise.
You have good technical writing skills.
You are proficient in English.
You want to bring agility to space and develop new services based on high-level technologies.
