ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Project Manager is a staff member contributing to achieve yearly organization objectives derived from a long-term business plan built on revenue growth and profitability.
The Project Manager is either involved as a team member or responsible for supporting the preparation of proposals answering Invitation To Tenders (ITTs) on projects as well as services. When the project is contracted, the Project Manager is responsible during project lifetime for programmatic aspects, budget, contractual obligations, management of the various internal/external resources and suppliers in an integrated approach towards the Customer(s) and along the scope defined.
You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):
- Support the attraction of contracts by supporting the various Request for Proposal (RFP) phases like proposal preparations, proposal submissions, proposal and contract negotiations;
- Be responsible for the successful delivery of projects in the domains of current and planned Techcom technology and service developments, such as quantum communication infrastructure, navigation, emergency response, GOVSATCOM, 5G, ground infrastructure for satellite communications systems and other;
- Manage projects which includes:
- Coordination of all internal and external resources;
- Preparation and negotiation of contract amendments;
- Leading and managing project teams: plan, organise and assigns tasks and duties within the project team and along the requirements (Engineering, QA/PA, CADM, Legal…).
- Build up relationships with customers along contractual requirements through the various project realization phases;
- Report to Line Management and coordinate with other functions (Engineering, Project Control, Commercial, Legal, Finance) for the transparent and effective realization of assigned projects;
- Enforce within the team the usage of professional project management tools as appropriated to plan, report and document project progress and budget evolution;
- Coordinate the setup and manage budgets, procurements, integrations, installations and handovers;
- Support the yearly preparation of company operational expense (OPEX) budgets;
- Promote SES products and services in the satellite industry and related markets, contribute to scientific papers;
- Contribute or manage the set-up of cost/pricing templates in the frame of proposal preparation works;
- Assess and suggest improvement of processes and tools used for the project/program management;
- Travel as required for promotion and project realization purposes.
YOUR PROFILE
Must Have:
- Master’s or higher in Aerospace, RF, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent;
- Have a minimum 4 years working experience in engineering and implementing telecommunications systems;
- Have a proven project management experience of minimum 2 years, not necessarily sequential with the engineering experience, preferably confirmed by a PMI certification;
- NATO/EU SECRET clearances are considered a strong asset. Candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance procedure as this position might require holding security clearance.
Nice to have:
- Experience of having worked with institutional, defense and international organizations would be considered as an asset;
- Expertise in the following fields is considered a strong asset:
- Knowledge of ECSS standards and ESA project lifecycle;
- Experience with EU/ESA “protected” and “classified” projects.
- Expertise in the following fields is considered an asset:
- Quantum communications; or
- Governmental Satellite Communications.
- Skilled in the daily usage of office and project management software (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project…);
- Willing to travel internationally.
