RF/Antenna Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Design of antenna and RF components based on SWISSto12’s proprietary 3D printing techniques (but not limited to), including:
- Horn antennas: broadband ridge horns, corrugated horns, smooth walled horns;
- Horn arrays for high-gain or interferometric applications;
- Other antennas and antenna components: spiral antennas, external screens for polarization conversion, omnidirectional antennas, etc.;
- Waveguide components and feed networks: filters, power distribution/beamforming networks, magic tees, orthomode transducers;
- Frequencies: UHF to V-band;
- Perform different analysis and post-processing for the antennas/components designed by the candidate.
- Participate in the development of systems involving the previous antennas and components. It might include interacting with suppliers for development of other units/subsystems. It might include development (or participation in the development) of structural parts, radomes, etc.;
- Participate in antenna and components RF measurement campaigns;
- Prepare design and test documentation. Product documentation for manufacturing and support during development and production;
- Participate in reviews with customers and subcontractors;
- Fast prototyping of antennas and components by using subcontractors with fast turn-around times.
Required experience and competencies:
- M.Sc. in electrical engineering (RF) with at least 5 years of experience with development of antennas and RF components. Candidates with more than 3 years of experience in a relevant antenna industrial application are also invited to apply;
- Strong knowledge of antenna theory;
- Strong knowledge of waveguide theory;
- Advanced skills with antenna analysis and processing;
- Experience with 3D printing and PCB (beyond laboratory level, ideally the candidate has worked on products based on PCB design) is a plus;
- The applicant understands RF system budgets;
- Good if the applicant has experience in ground antenna systems (Radar, Surveillance, Communications);
- Knowledge of Baseband/RF/Microwave measurement methods (DC – 40 GHz) and operation of Spectrum Analyzers, VNA’s, RF Generators, Oscilloscopes etc. Advantage, if the applicant has experience with measurements in anechoic chambers;
- Software:
- Basic: CST (or similar full-wave RF solver), Python;
- Good to have: Cadence – Capture Orcad Schematic tool, Cadence Allegro Viewer for PCB Layouts, Gerber Viewer for PCB Layouts, AWR – Microwave Office.
